Pipe insulation is a dual-function jacket solution that controls heat loss + airborne sound + condensation on mechanical-service and industrial-process pipes. Rubber foam, mineral wool, glass-wool jacket and PVC outer-shell combinations are customised by pipe diameter, temperature and noise target. Mandatory on HVAC, water, steam, refrigeration and process lines.
What is pipe insulation?
Pipe insulation is the process of providing the right thermal and acoustic wrap around a pipe. An uninsulated pipe loses heat, sweats, and radiates flow noise (especially at high speed). Correct insulation reduces heat loss by 70-90%, eliminates condensation and cuts noise by 10-20 dB.
Insulation materials
- Rubber-foam jacket (NBR/EPDM): -200 °C / +120 °C, cold lines
- Mineral-wool pipe jacket: high temperature (steam, boiler)
- Glass-wool fill + aluminium shell: industrial process
- Acoustic jacket sandwich: barrier + foam combination
- PVC outer shell + tape: aesthetic and mechanical protection
Dual function: thermal + acoustic
- Thermal insulation: λ = 0.033-0.040 W/mK range
- Acoustic insulation: +10-20 dB with combination sandwich
- Condensation control: water-vapour barrier
- Fire safety: A1/A2 mineral, B-s2, d0 rubber
- Mechanical protection: PVC or aluminium outer shell
Size options
- Pipe diameter (ID): 1/4" - 24" (DN6 - DN600)
- Thickness: 9 / 13 / 19 / 25 / 32 / 40 / 50 mm
- Form: split tube, sheet, jacket, module
- Adhesive: self-adhesive version available
Where it is used
- HVAC cooling and air-conditioning lines
- Hot-water and steam service lines
- Industrial process (chemical, food, pharma)
- Oil, gas and power facilities
- Cold storage and refrigeration lines
- Building service shafts and penetrations
Which material where?
- HVAC cooling: rubber foam (NBR/EPDM) 9-25 mm
- Hot water / steam: mineral wool jacket + aluminium
- High-noise source: acoustic combination jacket (barrier + foam)
- Industrial process: glass wool + stainless shell
Installation
Split tube is fitted around the pipe and the joint is closed with acoustic tape; contact adhesive seals the seam. For sheet wrap the pipe circumference is measured and cut to the right width. Bends, tees and valves are closed with pre-formed parts or site cuts.
